چکیده

Abstract Aim Biogeographical inference and assessments of species' threat status trends depend on comprehensive information the current geographical distribution species. Even country‐level presences remain poorly known for many insect species consistent global overviews those are missing. Here we integrate from literature checklists, point occurrences, identify potential range gaps to provide a database checklists dragonfly damselfly useful baseline biogeographical assessment assessing remaining in taxonomic spatial knowledge. Location Global. Taxon Odonata (damselflies dragonflies). Methods Our checklist contains 491 sources, with focus data 1990 2021 reflect present country boundaries. Additionally, apply novel method interpolate species–country combinations missing by generating list >50% surrounding countries. Results Of 6,322 globally recognized odonate species, taxonomically harmonized records quality‐controlled occurrence address 6,076 4,170 respectively. compilation provides total 31,569 unique combinations, 23,239 uniquely provided 2,031 data, Main Conclusions This dataset resource scientists conservation practitioners examine questions related richness, distributions, regional conservation, coverage. The combined most available date Odonata. results show that occurrences concordant well‐studied regions complementary value tropical species‐rich

Flight of the dragonflies and damselflies

This work is a synthesis of our current understanding of the mechanics, aerodynamics and visually mediated control of dragonfly and damselfly flight, with the addition of new experimental and computational data in several key areas. These are: the diversity of dragonfly wing morphologies, the aerodynamics of gliding flight, force generation in flapping flight, aerodynamic efficiency, comparativ...

The Dragonflies ( Odonata ) of Burma and Lower Siam —

The preceding paper of this series was pubhshed so long ago as 1907. Following Mr. E. B. WiUiamson's kind suggestion, I propose to attempt to carry on in this and in subsequent parts the faunistic survey commenced by himself. In the first place I must express my regret that he should be unable to complete the wori^ so admirably begun, and my appreciation of my own inadequacy to continue the ser...

A Feature-based Classifier for Dragonflies and Damselflies

Unique patterns present in the wings of dragonflies and damselflies can be used to determine their family, genus, and species. A method for classifying dragonflies and damselflies using a particular pattern known as the triangle was developed using scanned images of the wings. Digital image processing techniques, such as image segmentation and feature detection, are used to determine properties...

Damselflies (Zygoptera: Odonata) of Pakistan: Part 1

The present study is an effort to document bio-geographical distribution for Zygoptera of Pakistan. Damselflies were collected throughout the country and territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir during 2004-2009. A total of 2692 specimens were collected yielding 9 families, 21 genera, and 48 species and subspecies. Three of these species, Libellago lineata lineata (Burmeister), Elattoneura atkinsoni...

Dragonflies (Odonata) from South-Eastern Iran

Twenty-seven species of Odonata were collected in the present survey in the freshwaters of South-Eastern Iran, Kerman province, in contrast to 11 species that were recorded previously from this region. In this study, 528 specimens were collected from more than 30 sites in Kerman province during 2006-2008. It seems that in this region due to its special biogeographic conditions, species diversit...
